Color Stars, Inc. was founded in 2002 by veterans in the electronics, telecom, and lighting industries from Acer Computer, Philips and Westinghouse. The core technology involves digital controls and drivers for ultra-bright white and RGB LEDs, which generate subtle colors for an infinite range of lighting needs – from façade lighting, cove, accent and project lighting to pool and spa lighting and cabinet lighting.

Color Stars is possibly the most vertically integrated company in the LED lighting industry – incorporating downstream applications with upstream LED packaging.  Its LED lighting application development activity ranges from lighting fixture design to optical lens and heat management, from color-changing systems to multiple-chip RGB packaging, and from white and warm-white LED packaging to special packaging methods designed for general lighting applications.

Major Product Lines and Technologies:

1. Lighting Systems

Digitally controlled RGB color-changing lighting systems with either synchronized or sequential patterns include:

A. TRISTAR® Master-Slave: Synchronized color-changing of 5W TRISTAR® RGB LED lamps using one TRISTAR®-Master lamp and up to 32 TRISTAR®-Slave lamps activated by a TRISTAR®-IR1627 remote controller or a line switch. Mode selection includes 4 color-changing patterns and 16 single colors.

B. PAVO™-96-DMX and StarOrchestra™ 3.01: Sequential color-changing of 5W TRISTAR®-RGB-DMX lamps, TRISTAR®-Slave lamps or EZStar-RGB lamps with the PAVO™-96-DMX Controller. Up to 96 individual ID addresses can be assigned to the lamps for operation in the 20 color-changing programs built into the PAVO™-96-DMX Controller. StarOrchestra™ 3.01, a Windows-based PC software program, available free with the purchase of the PAVO™-96-DMX Controller, can be used to design color-changing programs that can be downloaded to the controller. The lamps can also be controlled by a standard DMX controller using the DMX input port of the PAVO™-96-DMX Controller. The TRISTAR™-RGB-DMX can also be connected directly to a DMX controller. Larger lighting projects are also possible when PAVO™-96-DMX controllers are cascaded and/or PAVO™-Repeaters are used.

C. PAVO™-SS4-DMX and StarStream™24-RGB: Sequential color-changing of up to four 15-meter lengths of the StarStream™24-RGB strip light. An ID address can be assigned to each of the four ports of the PAVO™-SS4-DMX Controller.  The StarStream™24-RGB strip lights can be controlled by the PAVO™-SS4-DMX with its 20 built-in color-changing patterns, or by a standard DMX controller when it is connected to the DMX input port of the controller. Larger lighting projects are possible when the controllers are cascaded. A maximum of 96 ID addresses are assignable (one ID address per port), but more than 96 ports can be used if some share the same ID address.

D. PAVO™-PDS4-DMX and Beamer™12: Sequential color-changing of up to four Beamer™12 lamps, with the PAVO™-PDS4-DMX Controller, with the control of a larger number of lamps possible when multiple controllers are cascaded. An ID address can be assigned to each of the four Beamer™-12 lamps with a maximum of 96 assignable addresses available. The Beamer™12 lamps can be controlled by the PAVO™-PDS4-DMX with its 20 built-in color-changing patterns, or by a standard DMX controller when it is connected to the DMX input port of the controller. This system is excellent for façade or cove lighting.

2. Light Sources

The TRISTAR® Series LED lamps are retrofit lamps available in RGB (color-changing), 9 single colors and white (cool white, daylight white and warm white).  The RGB lamps now come with a frequency (‘F’) function that allows for auto-synchronization when multiple lamps are connected to the same AC power source. They can be controlled with the TRISTAR®-IR1627 Remote Controller or a line switch. The TRISTAR® white lamps can have an increased lumen output of 50% from 150~180 lumens. Other Color Stars’ light sources include the EZStar™ LED Modules, LUXMAN™ commercial flood lights and the STARSTREAM™24 strip lights.

A. TRISTAR® Series RGB Lamps: Retrofit high-power 5-watt color-changing RGB LED lamps with an E26, E27, GU10 or MR16 base. They have an IR receiver that allows control with the TRISTAR®-IR1627 Remote Controller. They come with a frequency (‘F’) function that allows for auto-synchronization when multiple lamps are connected to the same AC power source. 

B. TRISTAR® Series Single-Color LED Lamps: High-power 5-watt retrofit single-color LED lamps with an E26, E27, GU10 or MR16 base. Available in 9 single colors (red, green, blue, amber, cyan, light blue, grass green, magenta and purple.

C. TRISTAR® Series White Lamps: High-power, 5-watt, retrofit white LED lamps available in warm white (2900k ±100k), daylight white (5500k) and cool white (6500k) and E26, E27, GU10 and MR16 bases. Lumen output ranges from 150~180 lumens.

D. TRISTAR®-IR1627 Remote Controllers: Remote control in large (L) or small (S) size for TRISTAR® RGB lamps. Each remote can activate four color-changing patterns, 16 single colors and four color-intensity levels.

E. TRISTAR®-R2-WHITE: A 3-watt high-power retrofit LED lamp with a standard MR16 base available in warm white (2900k ±100k), daylight white (5500k) and cool white (6500k) and lumen output of 85~115 lumens.

F. TRISTAR®-R2-Single-Color: A 3-watt high-power retrofit LED lamp with a standard MR16 base available in nine single colors: red, green, blue, amber, cyan, grass green, light blue, magenta and light purple.

G. EZStar™-RGB LED Modules: EZStar™-RGB LED modules are suitable for cabinet, accent and cove lighting and are available in 10 cm and 30 cm lengths. They can be controlled by a line switch or a PAVO-96-DMX Controller with its 20 built-in color-changing programs. They can also be controlled by a standard DMX controller when a DMX controller is connected to the DMX input port of the PAVO-96-DMX Controller.

H. EZStar™-Single-Color LED Modules: EZStar™-Single-Color LED modules are suitable for cabinet, accent and cove lighting and are available red, green, blue and amber, plus warm white (2900k ±100k) and daylight white (550k), and in lengths of 5 cm, 15 cm and 30 cm.

I. LUXMAN™-12 and LUXMAN™-36 Commercial Flood Lights: The LUXMAN™-12 commercial flood light features 12 3-watt LEDs and has an output of 1200 lumens. The LUXMAN™-36 features 36 3-watt LEDs and has an output of 3600 lumens. These products are ideal for gas station lighting or parking lot lighting. They are high-power LEDs with low power consumption and a long operating lifetime.

J. STARSTREAM™24-RGB Light Strips: The STARSTREAM™24-RGB light strip is a 24VDC color-changing flexible strip of seven 1-watt RGB LEDs per 20 cm.  It can be controlled by the PAVO-SS4-DMX Controller with 20 built-in color-changing programs.  It is suitable for accent and cove lighting. The PAVO-SS4-DMX Controller can control up to four separate STARSTREAM™24-RGB lengths, each a maximum of 15 meters.

K. STARSTREAM™24 Single-Color Light Strips: The STARSTREAM™24 Single-color light strip is a 24VDC flexible strip available in warm white (3000k) and daylight white (5000k), red green, blue and amber. The maximum usable length of the single-color light strips is 30 meters.

3. Luminaries

A. GemStar: The GemStar, using CREE’s XLamp series LEDs, is a linear lamp with an MR plug or connectors. The GemStar with an MR plug is 10 cm.  The GemStar lamps with connectors are available in 12 cm and 24 cm lengths.  Both types of GemStar lamps are available in RRR, GGG, BBB, white and warm white. The GemStar is an excellent lamp for cabinet lighting, aircraft lighting or yacht lighting.
